Since a few years a couple of AYUDH members had the dream to produce a musical. Amma has given her approval to this project and encouraged us to go ahead with the planning.

Storyline

So first of all we need to develop a script. For this we need your help!

Just to give you an idea of what this is all about:

A musical composed of acting, music, dance and interactive elements.

A story that is inspired by Amma’s life, her teachings and service to the world.

Our goal is to perform this musical in theaters and/or schools throughout Europe and in Amritapuri (Amma’s main Ashram in India) in September of 2010.

We invite all of you to come up with some ideas for the musical. Whatever you can think of – storyline, characters, songs, costumes, etc – please feel free to let your creativity go wild. Here are some guidelines that may help you develop your ideas:

* The story does not need to play in India
* It can play in the past, present or future
* Just like we try to inspire young people through our youth retreats and other activities, this musical should be uplifting, thought-provoking and inspiring to people of all backgrounds and ages
* The message should be a spiritual one, but one that can be understood by “ordinary people”

Music

Of course our musical will also need some fantastic songs. We would like the music to be composed by youth from all over Europe, in all different musical styles.

Sathya, a very talented singer and songwriter from Finland ( www.vonhertzenbrothers.com ) will be the supervisor for the musical aspect and help the youth to write the songs.

So even if the storyline is not clear as of now, Sathya would like those who already have written some songs and who are interested to get involved in the project to get in touch with him, send him some recordings (quality does not matter), lyrics – whatever is available

We need you!

Last but not least, we need young people from all over Europe who share our passion for this project, who are talented in the fields of dance, singing, music, acting, stage design, costume design, PR-work and who are willing to dedicate at least one full month to the rehearsal and performance of the musical sometime in July / August / September 2010.

During the next AYUDH Europe Youth Exchange from July 19 – 26 2009 we will already start the production of the musical with many workshops in songwriting, dance, stage design, acting etc.
