“The Joy of Giving” is the 8th European Youth Initiative organized by the international youth movement AYUDH. During the project period from May – December 2012 a one-week camp will be organized at M.A. Center Germany (near Frankfurt), taking place from 15th to 21st of July 2012, welcoming around 200 youth from 20 countries.
Through talks and workshops the youth will be inspired to explore and develop their own talents and capacities for the benefit of society, the environment and the global community as a whole.
Expected speakers and workshop leaders include: Kirty Matabadal, youth ambassador to the UN, Netherlands; Jani Toivola, Member of Parliament, Finland; Kirsi Ranto, pop-singer, Finland; Br. Shubamrita, monk and meditation teacher, India; Bri. Dipamrita, environmentalist, leader of the charitable organization “embracing the world – france”, France.
Through a charity walk in the close by city Michelstadt participants will raise donations for a local and an international charity project.
Apart from this there will be a bonfire and picknick in nature, sports, singing, yoga and meditation etc.
The five months after the camp will be dedicated to spreading the results of the camp and implementing at least one small “Joy of Giving” project in each participating county.
As in the previous years we have applied for co-funding by the “youth in action” programme of the European Commission for Education and Culture. If granted, a limited number of participants from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and UK will receive a 70% refund of their travel cost. Of course youth from other countries are welcome as well, however, they would need to cover their own travel cost. Participation fee for the whole week is 100 Euro.
