AYUDH UK: Kirtan workshops

In May the youth started the first kirtan workshop. The workshops are designed to introduce youth to the musical world of kirtans and simple bhajans. The introductory session had the support of a guitar and harmonium which step by step led everyone from tuning-in to becoming a strong uniform choir. Every participant was given a take-home kirtan booklet while the meaning and melody were explained and practiced during the session. The workshop was greeted with much enthusiasm and kirtans were singing in theirs heads as they left. A short clip of the practice can be viewed here.
