On this Good Friday AYUDH Netherlands really experienced the Joy of Giving. We went to an elderly carehouse in the beautiful east of Holland. In the middle of hills and woods we took the elderly people in a line of wheelchairs, out to the supermarket to do grocaries for preparing a real Easter High Tea. Back at home we had a warm lunch together. Then we started baking cookies, cupcakes, buttercake and sandwiches. We did it all together with the elderly people and it was great fun!
An old man, living in the house, told us about his orchards full of appletrees when he was a farmer. And an elderly woman shared her memories of baking cookies with her mum many many years ago. Next to baking cookies and cakes, we had a beautiful afternoon of just hanging out with the elderly people, drinking coffee together, chatting about everything, laughing and smiling, enjoying each others company. We all had a wonderful heartwarming day.
The chief of the carehome said: “You really really don’t realise what you are giving to us by coming here today and doing this!”
